Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar addressed the media after his team’s 5-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild in Game 3 of the second-round Stanley Cup playoff series, which left the Avalanche leading the series 2-1.
“We spent too much time defending. We gave them too much space, and that’s not acceptable with our defensive system. It led to long shifts in our zone. That’s what happened. We have to withstand that. Tonight, we endured a lot of those shifts, but we needed to transition better into offense afterward,” Makar said.
The 27-year-old Canadian logged 29:06 of ice time and finished the game without a point and a minus-2 rating.
