Buying property for investment in booming areas means buying houses or condominiums/apartments ''off plan'' - as it's called when your property at the time of purchase is little more than a contract and some very well presented plans.

Very few projects go wrong, however. Almost all are late, it's true, some turn out truly excellent and other are at least passable. You do get what you pay for.

Why must you buy off plan? Well, everyone buys property with investment in mind so resale property is always dearer. And, of course, no-one can do it cheaper than the builders/developers themseleves. Ergo, the discounts are found in helping to finance development projects by paying as your property is being constructed.
 
Consider an investment of 8.500.000 baht, roughly 180,000 Euros, for a house as described here or at Baan Suan Mok.

This house is not yet built. The developer has bought and prepared the land, it has a nice boundary of jasmin hedge and white picket fence, it has 3-phase electricity, telephone /ADSL is already available and endless fresh water from a deep well. The developer can sell you the land and the house described, finish it with nice gardens and pools at your exense, and everyone makes good money. There are houses just like this being sold right now in Hua Hin for 10, 12 and more million baht.

So the only question should be: how many do you want?
